Acceptable use policy
What you may and may not advertise or collect through Arku, including the rules that protect candidates from fake job scams.
- Version
- 0.1
- Effective
- What changed
- First draft for legal review.
Arku exists to help real organisations hire real people. This policy forms part of our
terms of service and applies to everyone using an Arku account.
Jobs must be real
- Only advertise roles that exist and that you are hiring for, or are recruiting for on behalf of a named employer.
- Do not charge candidates anything, including fees for training, equipment, uniforms, visas or background checks.
- Do not advertise schemes involving cryptocurrency, gift cards, money transfers or recruiting other people for payment.
- Do not move candidates to WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal or similar apps to avoid Arku before you have met them through a normal process.
Arku checks new jobs for common scam signs, and every public job page has a "Report this job" link. We review reports and may unpublish every job on an account while we investigate.
Collect only what you need
- Do not ask candidates for bank details, passport numbers, driver licence numbers, tax numbers or other government identity numbers on an application form.
- Do not upload background check reports. Record only the status and date in Arku.
- Do not ask questions that break anti-discrimination law where you hire, such as questions about age, religion, pregnancy or health that are not genuinely required for the role.
Contact candidates fairly
- Only contact candidates about their application or about roles they agreed to hear about.
- Get a candidate's consent before texting them where the law requires it, including in New Zealand and the United States. Arku will not send those texts without it.
- Do not use Arku to send marketing, bulk unsolicited messages or anything abusive.
Keep Arku safe
- Do not share accounts, try to access other organisations' data, probe or overload the service, or work around plan limits or security controls.
- Do not upload malware or content you do not have the right to use.
What happens if this policy is broken
We may remove content, unpublish jobs, restrict features or suspend an account. Where we can, we will tell you what happened and give you a chance to fix it. Report a concern to
